Representative from Philippine Rubber Research Institute gave an updates on the spread of Pestalotiopsis in the country’s rubber industry and briefed the EDC members about the said disease.
“Anytime, pwedeng pumasok ang sakit na ito sa ating rehiyon… Kaya, matagal na po nating ipinagbawal ang pagpasok ng mga rubber planting materials na galing sa Basilan at Zamboanga upang maprotektahan natin ang ating rubber industry,” Department of Agriculture 12 OIC Regional Executive Director Sailila Abdula said as he reiterated the DA 12’s advisory to the LGUs.
In the said meeting, the request for declaring Sultan Kudarat (SK) as the Coffee Capital of the Philippines was also discussed.
SOCCSKSARGEN Coffee Industry Council President Ronan Eugene Garcia presented the status of Region 12’s coffee production and SK’s Coffee Industry Roadmap.
“We want our coffee to be an instrument of peace and poverty alleviaton in our province, as well as in Region 12,” said Garcia.
