Koronadal Cityโ€”A historic step towards empowering the Ovu-Monuvu Indigenous Peoples of Magpet, Cotabato Province, was marked with the ceremonial signing of the Implementation Management Agreement (IMA), signaling the official commencement of two sub-projects under the Mindanao Inclusive Agriculture Development Project (DA-MIADP 12).

The following infrastructure and enterprise sub-projects will be implemented under DA-MIADP 12 through the proponent Local Government Unit (LGU) of Magpet:

1. Rehabilitation/Concreting of the Brgy. Road Junction from Sitio Mabato to Sitio Timodos Farm-to-Market Road in Brgy. Manobisa.

2. Rubber Cup Lump Production, Consolidation, and Marketingโ€”an enterprise sub-project to be managed by the Imamaling Farmers Association (IFA), the proponent Indigenous Peoples Organization (IPO).

The IMA signing was attended by key signatories, including Magpet Mayor Jay Laurence S. Gonzaga, MIADP Project Support Office (PSO) Project Director Macario D. Gonzaga, and MIADP Regional Project Coordination Office (RPCO) XII Project Director Roberto T. Perales. Also in attendance were the Barangay and Sanggunian Officials from LGU-Magpet and the Indigenous Political Structure (IPS) of Obo-Monuvu Ancestral Domain, who served as witnesses to the signing.

The IMA signing formalized the intricate web of responsibilities, commitments, and cost-sharing arrangement that ensure the sub-project implementation’s success. This comprehensive agreement details crucial aspects such as procurement procedures, financial management, and the overall implementation strategy, ensuring transparency and accountability at every stage.

Procurement and construction activities for the two sub-projects are expected to commence by the 2nd quarter this year.

In his closing remarks, DA MIADP 12 Project Director Roberto T. Perales assured the Indigenous Political Structure (IPS) of Ovu-Monuvu Ancestral Domain in attendance that the Department of Agriculture is firmly committed to upholding the terms of the IMA in providing the support in their pursuit of sustainable development for their Ancestral Domain, aligning with their own efforts towards progress.
