DA-BAR Monitoring and Evaluation of R4D Initiatives in SOCCSKSARGEN
The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) conducted an onsite monitoring and evaluation visit from March 11-13, 2025, to assess the progress and impact of ongoing Research for Development (R4D) projects pertaining to corn and cassava here at Region 12.
The monitoring covered the following projects:
𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟏𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: Field tour at Tupi Research and Outreach Station for the project, 𝙑𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙂𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙂𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙐𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙑𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝟏𝟐, focusing on the enhanced purple and glutinous corn variety development.

𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟏𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: Monitoring of the project, “𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙉𝙪𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙧𝙤𝙥 𝙋𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙏𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙀𝙣𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝘾𝙧𝙤𝙥 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙈𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚,” for sustainable nutrient and pest management in Sarangani, assessing its impact on farm productivity and income. The team also visited one of the target beneficiaries to distribute farming tools and planting materials, contributing to improved agricultural practices.
𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟏𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: Monitoring of the project, “𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙫𝙖 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙎𝙉𝙈 𝙉𝙪𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙓𝙄𝙄,” implementation and evaluation at Sto. Niño, Koronadal City and Tupi Research and Outreach Station. The team then proceeded to Balindog Research and Experiment Station for the project, “𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝘽𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙓𝙄𝙄,” showcasing various value-added product demonstrations and further assessing enhanced purple corn products.
These monitoring and evaluation activities aimed to strengthen project implementation and address challenges related to crop productivity, pest management, and market development within the SOCCSKSARGEN region.
