#InPhotos | The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 12 (DA 12), through its Corn Program and Research for Development Division, successfully conducted a Farmer’s Field Day on March 25, 2025.

The event was part of the Regional Varietal Trial on Corn for the Dry Season, highlighted new corn seed varieties that have the potential to improve productivity and income for farmers in low-elevation areas of Sarangani Province.

In the Genetically Modified (GM) category, Corteva Agriscience’s P3582 PW topped the yield rankings with an average of 6.42 t/ha, followed closely by Syngenta Philippines Inc.’s NK6130 BGT at 6.39 t/ha. Bayer Crop Science’s DK8899S and Asian Hybrid’s J505 achieved yields of 5.56 t/ha and 5.52 t/ha, respectively.

For the Conventional Yellow Hybrid Category, Southside Agri-Trading’s Filipina 753 delivered the highest yield at 7.04 t/ha, followed by Vigour Seeds’ Maize D30 at 6.75 t/ha, Promland’s USM Var 35 at 6.65 t/ha, and Evo Gene’s EG501 at 5.31 t/ha.

In the Conventional Hybrid White Category, Southside Agri-Trading’s Ghen 802 led with 5.52 t/ha, while Farco MPC’s Farco 88 secured 4.84 t/ha. Meanwhile, in the Open-Pollinated Variety (OPV) category, Tupi WIT produced the highest yield at 3.33 t/ha, followed by Farco MPC’s Farco 58 at 3.31 t/ha.
