#InPhotos | The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) XII conducted a Farmer’s Field Day for the Regional Varietal Trial for Corn in Barangay Miasong, Tupi, South Cotabato, on May 14, 2025. Organized by the Corn Program and Research Development Division, the event focused on evaluating the performance of various corn varieties under low-elevation conditions, helping farmers choose the most suitable seeds for their area.
This trial, which includes both low- and high-elevation sites, aims to generate data on how different corn varieties perform in diverse agro-climatic conditions. By identifying the highest-performing varieties, the initiative seeks to provide data-driven recommendations to improve corn production, support policy and seed selection decisions, and ultimately enhance food security and sustainability the region. Collaborative efforts from DA-RFO XII, seed companies, and local farmers make this initiative a crucial step in boosting the region’s corn production.
