Earlier today, a harvest festival for the aforementioned purpose was held in the demonstration area.
It was found out during the harvest activity that the city’s is suitable for onion production. Moreover, instead of longer harvest season of 90 days, it was observed that here in General Santos City, harvesting can be conducted already on 60-70 days.
APCO Jocelyn Misterio, for Sarangani and GenSan, noted that with the collaborative support of the local government units, government agencies and farmer organizations, there will be a successful expansion of onion production here in the area.
She also noted that the new leadership of DA RFO XII, through OIC-RED John Pascual, fully supports expansion of high value crops in the region.
