DA, UPLB officially launch SSNM-NE software for cassava

In line with the goal to increase cassava efficiency in the country, the Department of Agriculture (DA), through its Bureau of Agricultural Research and National Corn Program in collaboration with the University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos (UPLB) and DA-Regional Field Offices (RFOs), led the launching of the Site-Specific Nutrient Management-Nutrient Expert (SSNM-NE) software for cassava on 4 August 2023 at the DA-Bureau of Soils and Water Management Convention Hall in Quezon City.
Cassava farmers, DA-RFOs, and private sector partners received the user manual and quick guide of the SSNM-NE software for cassava. These reference materials aim to assist local farmers in the development of fertilizer and location-specific guidelines and recommendations in a given region. Also, Balinghoy ni Juan, a popularized reference on benefits of SSNM-NE for adoption was distributed.

Leading the launching were DA-Bureau of Plant Industry, National High Value Crops Development Program and National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture program director Dr. Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban, DA-BAR director Dr. Junel B. Soriano and assistant director Joell H. Lales, UPLB Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs Forester Roberto P. Cereno, Technical adviser for DA-National Corn Program Dr. Candido B. Damo, UPLB-College of Agriculture and Food Science Associate Dean for Research and Extension Dr. Lilia M. Fernando-Corpuz; UPLB-Institute of Plant Breeding director Dr. Fe M. Dela Cueva, and DA-Bureau of Soils and Water Management assistant director Denise N. Solano.
