#R4D32ndIn-houseReview | Twelve agri-related studies under the research and development categories were presented during the 32nd In-House Review of the Department of Agriculture’s Research for Development (R4D) program held in General Santos City on October 19 and 20, 2023.
R4D Agency In-House Review is a scientific forum for thorough assessment of various ongoing and completed research studies that include discussion on some problems related to the conduct of the projects.
Evaluators and consultants were experts in the fields of agriculture and science research. They were Professor Emeritus Naomi Tangonan, Dr. Ruby Hechanova, Dr. Helen Perpetua, and consultant SOXAARRDEC Director Josephine Migalbin.
The research stations that competed were Amas Research and Experiment Station, Balindog RES, Aroman RES, Tupi RES, and the Regional Crop Protection Center (RCPC), with the special participation of the Mindanao State University of General Santos City.
In the development category, the study “Rice Crop Manager” of the Amas RES presented by Nilda Nuesca and Precious Anne Ronquillo was awarded as the best paper.
For the research category, the Research for Development, represented by Dr. Ray Rodriguez and Ara Allel Hosanna Lumbao, with the research title “Performance Evaluation of High Yielding and Cost-Effective Technologies for Hybrid and Inbred Rice Varieties in Region Xll,” also awarded as the best paper.
After the two-day in-house review, this year’s best presenter was Ara Allel Hosanna Lumbao from R4D.
Moreover, DA 12 Regional and Technical Director for Research and Regulations, Dr. Lorna Vilbar said that “Laking pasasalamat ko sa ating mga evaluators from SUCs to help evaluate the studies of our researchers…at since tayo ay grupo ng mga young generation, ‘yung mga nag-present ng kanilang studies, ay malaking tulong, especially sa ating mga farmers sa community.”
The winners in the two categories will compete in SOXAARRDEC’s Regional Research and Development Symposium on December 12, 2023, at the University of Southern Mindanao, Kabacan, Cotabato.
