December 22, 2023// OMAG Alabel, led by MA Giselle Cahumnas Gestupa, hosted the Harvest Festival of Bulb Onion today at Barangay Baluntay, Alabel, Sarangani Province. Mr. Marlon Cloa agreed to use a portion of his lot for the bulb onion techno demo, which was launched in August 2023.
Bulb onion is not a common crop in Sarangani Province, and Alabel is the first municipality to take the risk of venturing and studying the adaptability of bulb onion to high temperatures. Mayor Vic Paul Salarda, along with OMAG Alabel and all the members of Alabel Vegetable Producers Association (AVPA), are hopeful that the said venture will succeed. OIC PA Engr. Agnes L. Du, noted that she is looking forward to the positive future of bulb onion production in Alabel, and may the municipality take the lead not only in Sarangani Province but all throughout the country as well.
