#FoodSufficiency | In pursuit of establishing a concrete Food Security Plan for South Cotabato, Undersecretary for Special Concerns and Infrastructure Engr. Zamzamin Ampatuan called for a meeting with South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo and various officials of food and agriculture-related agencies in SOCCSKSARGEN today, January 04, 2023.
Acknowledging the food production potential of the province, Engr. Ampatuan presented the Suggested Framework for Food Security in South Cotabato which highlighted improving income of farmers, increasing palay production, and establishing a Crop Alliance Enterprise.
“To help the President, our end goal is to make South Cotabato a model province for food sufficiency,” he said.
DA 12 OIC-Regional Executive Director Sailila Abdula responded to the presentation by emphasizing the current status of the region’s agriculture sector and the schemes that should be crafted with the support of the local government units.
Furthermore, Gov. Tamayo encouraged the participation of all responsible agencies to propel the plan forward.
“I need your support…we all have the same goal—it is to be a model na pwedeng gayahin ng ibang probinsya, rehiyon, at ng buong Pilipinas,” the governor said.
