#iFarmMIS | The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 12, through the Research for Development Division, conducted the 2nd Onsite Assessment and Training on Integrated Farm Attribution for Risk and Resource Monitoring and Management (iFarm) Information System on May 27-31, 2024.
The activity brought together representatives from the Department of Agriculture’s Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and iFarm, alongside local government units (LGUs) from Banga and the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of South Cotabato, and DA-RFO XII officials.
“The iFarm is working towards digitalizing the current reporting and monitoring systems for corn commodities and has the potential to close the informational gap by delivering farm-level data essential to DRRM and agricultural monitoring,” said DA-RFO XII Research for Development Division Deputy Dr. Ray Rodriguez.
Presentations of accomplishment reports, the monitoring of developed protocols, and discussions on key information for system enhancement were included and participants were trained on using the iFarm System Platform Dashboard, data analytics, report generation, and the Damage and Losses Component.
As National Corn Program Technical Expert Dr. Candido Damo said, “At the end of two years, we will come up with a refined iFarm protocol that is ready for widespread implementation within the country.”
The activity concluded with planning for the Year 2 proposal and site visits to Barangay Rang-ay, Barangay Lamba, and Barangay San Jose in the municipality of Banga, South Cotabato, further grounding the information system’s practical applications in local grassroots communities.
