𝙄𝙉 𝙋𝙃𝙊𝙏𝙊𝙎: The 4th Regional Project Advisory Board (RPAB) Meeting in Koronadal City, South Cotabato on November 20, 2024, signified a pivotal moment for the municipalities of Polomolok and Surallah, as both secured approval for their proposed infrastructure projects.
The Municipality of Polomolok presented its proposal for the concreting of a 9.9-kilometer Purok Kalyong-Bukay Eel-Guaza-Buluan-Bato Paradise, Landan Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) while Surallah, on the other hand, proposed a similar subproject proposal for a 7.7-kilometer Sitio Lanas-Datal Binate-Buyos-Siop FMR. Both projects fall under the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Scale-Up initiative.
The meeting was presided over by DA-PRDP Regional Project Coordination Office XII Deputy Project Director and RPAB Chair Engr. Abraham Onotan who emphasized the vital role of infrastructure in driving agricultural growth and rural development. Representatives from key agencies, including the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Regional Agricultural and Fisheries Council (RAFC) XII, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), were also in attendance.
Funding for the approved projects has been substantial, with Polomolok receiving an allocation of Php266.7 million and Surallah Php236.4 million. These FMRs are expected to improve the mobility of goods and services, benefiting farmers and local communities by providing more efficient and direct access to markets.
With these projects underway, the region looks forward to enhanced economic opportunities and improved livelihoods for its residents.
