#OutreachProgram | “There are only two things that I aim to accomplish upon my appointment as the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Agriculture: to raise our food production and supply, and to improve the livelihood of our farmers and fisherfolk,” ASEC and Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) Chairman James Layug said on Thursday, July 25, 2024, during the conduct of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Caravan: Reformation towards Total Productivity Outreach Program in Tampakan, South Cotabato.

“This caravan is a commitment of support from the Department of Agriculture to help the residents of Tampakan, specifically their agricultural and fisheries sector,” added ASEC and PRLEC Chairman Layug.

Together with the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 12, Knights of Columbus, and other government agencies, the activity consisted of tree planting, awarding and turnover of various government interventions worth PhP 7 million, toasting of milk headed by PRLEC-ELCAC Adviser Celestino Desamito, and a presentation of government programs that the locals of said municipality might consider applying for.

Furthermore, Municipality Mayor Hon. Leonard Escobillo said that this activity is a reflection of the national government’s dedication to transparency, dedication, and passion towards addressing the needs of the people and that this will motivate residents of said municipality to develop and improve their agricultural sector.
