“AMANG” ACCELERATES AS IT MOVES WESTWARD TOWARDS THE COAST OF CATANDUANES

The center of the eye was estimated based on all available data 260 km East of Daet, Camarines Norte moving Westward at 30 km/h.
It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h
From this morning until Thursday evening, heavy to intense rain is expected over Bicol Region, Samar provinces, and southern portion of Quezon.
For the next 24 hours, “AMANG” is forecast to track generally westward or west northwestward towards Bicol Region before turning west northwestward or northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period. Throughout the forecast period, “AMANG” is forecast to remain as a tropical depression, with the possibility of weakening into a low pressure area by late Thursday (Apr 13) or early Friday (Apr 14).
ADVISORY TO FARMERS AND FISHERFOLK
The Department is advising farmers to harvest matured crops and utilize post-harvest facilities; secure seed reserves, planting materials and other farm inputs, as well as feed and water for livestock; relocate animals, farm machineries, and equipment to higher ground; and clear drainage in irrigation and rice paddies from obstructions to prevent flooding.
Moreover, fisherfolk are advised to perform early harvest and mobilize post-harvest equipment and facilities; secure fishing vessels in higher ground; and dismiss sea travel as potentially rough conditions prevail over affected seaboards.

PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES
As preparation for TD “AMANG”, the DA RFOs along the track of the tropical cyclone has done the following:
1. Activation of the DA Regional DRRM Operation Centers
2. Prepositioning of seeds for rice and corn, drugs and biologics for livestock and poultry in safe storage facilities
3. Coordination with the Local Government Units counterparts, and other Regional DRRM-related offices in monitoring of TD “AMANG”
4. Continuous dissemination of advisory to the APCOs, LGUs, and farmer leaders for them to disseminate the same information to the community and local farmers for their farm operation activities
5. Monitoring of the actual field situation for possible damage that may be incurred in crops and livestock
