Bulletin No. 2 on TD “AMANG” Issued at 12NN, 12 April 2023

“AMANG”MAINTAINS ITS STRENGTH AS IT MEANDERS OVER THE LAGONOY GULF.
PAGASA SITUATIONER

The center of the eye was estimated based on all available data over the coastal waters of Caramoan, Camarines Sur moving slowly. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h.
For the next 24 hours, heavy to intense rain is expected over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Quezon provinces.
“AMANG” is forecast to tracking generally west northwestward in the next 36 hours, which will bring its center over the Camarines Provinces, Lamon Bay, and mainland Quezon (with the possibility of passing near or over Polillo Islands). The tropical depression is forecast to weaken into a low pressure area by tomorrow (Apr 13), possibly earlier, due to the combined effects of land interaction, dry air intrusion, and increasing vertical wind shear.

STANDING CROPS
Based on the combined data of affected regions (I, III, IV-A, V. and VIII) as of today, the area of standing crops that may be affected by Tropical Depression “AMANG” totals to 632,706 hectares with 602,728 hectares for rice and 29,978 hectares for corn.

ACTIONS TAKEN
The DA RFOs along the track of the tropical cyclone has undertaken the following:
1. Activation of the DA Regional DRRM Operation Centers
2. Prepositioning of seeds for rice and corn, drugs and biologics for livestock and poultry in safe storage facilities
3. Coordination with the Local Government Units counterparts, and other Regional DRRM-related offices in monitoring of TD “AMANG’
4. Continuous dissemination of advisory to the APCOs, LGUs, and farmer leaders for them to disseminate the same information to the community and local farmers for their farm operation activities
5. Monitoring of the actual field situation for possible damage that may be incurred in crops and livestock

AVAILABLE INTERVENTIONS
The following assistance are available for distribution to affected farmers and fishers:
1. Rice, corn and assorted vegetable seeds;
2. Drugs and biologics for livestock and poultry;
3. Fingerlings and assistance to affected fisherfolk from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)
4. Survival and Recovery (SURE) Loan Program from the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) with loanable amount of up to PhP 25,000 payable in three years at zero interest
5. Quick Response Fund (QRF) for the rehabilitation of affected areas.
