The 18.2-kilometer road, a subproject of the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) under the Regional Project Coordinating Office (RPCO) XII, has a total funding of ₱330.8 million and will span five barangays, namely: Lagubang, Banali, Buklod, Tacupis, and Basag, aiming to enhance accessibility and economic opportunities for local farmers.
The FMR subproject will provide better mobility and transportation for agricultural products such as corn, banana, rice, and rubber, among others. It is also expected to boost the livelihood of farming communities by improving access to markets and strengthening value chains for these commodities.
Municipal Mayor Randy Ecija, in his speech, emphasized the significance of the project, stating, “This was a promise that has come to fruition, and it’s because of the help of not only DA-PRDP personnel but also the barangay officials and the people living in these communities.”
Furthermore, DA-PRDP RPCO XII Deputy Project Director Engr. Abraham Onotan also highlighted the magnitude of the project, noting, “This is the largest approved subproject in Mindanao so far and we hope that the impact of this will not only benefit current residents but will also echo among future generations as well.”
The NHJ Lagubang-Banali-Buklod-Tacupis-Basag Farm-to-Market Road aligns with the government’s commitment to rural development, ensuring that remote communities have access to essential infrastructure that can uplift their economic conditions and is expected to significantly improve transportation, increase productivity, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents in the province.
