#ClusteringDevelopmentWorkshop | DA 12 Holds Farm Clustering Development Workshop to Boost Rice Farming in Sultan Kudarat
In a bid to enhance the livelihoods of rice farmers in Region XII, the Department of Agriculture 12 (DA 12) has conducted a three-day Farm Clustering Development Workshop, bringing together farmers from various cooperatives and associations across Sultan Kudarat on September 02-04, 2024. This initiative, spearheaded by the DA 12’s Rice Program, is part of the government’s broader effort to address longstanding challenges in the agricultural sector.
The workshop aims to tackle critical issues that have hindered the productivity and sustainability of rice farming in the region. Among the key concerns are outdated production practices and low productivity levels, exacerbated by farmers’ limited access to credit, capital, and modern farming techniques.
Participants are also expected to gain insights into farm mechanization, post-harvest and processing facilities, market access, infrastructure development, and the role of transport and logistics.
The workshop marks a pivotal moment for Sultan Kudarat’s rice farmers, who are now better equipped to tackle the challenges of modern agriculture and contribute to the region’s economic growth.
