The Department of Agriculture (DA) 12 has officially launched its flagship initiative โthe Price Protection Program (PPP), which aims to secure economic stability of farmers through out SOCCSKSARGEN Region.
Regional Executive Director Roberto Perales, the program’s brainchild, and Regional Technical Director for Operations Zaldy Boloron, personally introduced the PPP to farmer cooperatives and associations (FCAs) in Malungon, Sarangani Province โ marking the program’s pilot launch yesterday, February 21, 2025.
PPP’s initial phase will directly benefit 31 barangays within Malungon town, providing farmers with guaranteed market access and stable pricing for their produce.
“Gusto namin na protektahan kayo. Gusto naming maprotektahan ang presyo ng mga produkto ninyo,” said RED Perales.
Offering a comprehensive support system, the newest program secures markets for farmers’ products and assists them through the entire production-to-market cycle.
“Nakasentro ang programang ito sa pagpapalaki ng kita ninyo. Kung ano ang kailangan ninyo sa production, ipo-provide ni DA. Kung kailangan ninyo ng market, hahanap si DA,” Director Perales assured attendees.
Furthermore, he also emphasized that the PPP will strengthen the DA’s Clustering and Consolidation Program.
During the launch, private sector partners and potential buyers, including Vitarich Corporation, Biotech Farms, Inc., and PG Ang Sons, Inc., presented their commitments to establish a direct purchasing agreements with local farmers.
Representatives from the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) also detailed their credit and insurance programs and offered financial support and risk mitigation to PPP-beneficiaries.
The DA 12 plans to expand the PPP’s implementation to other provinces within the region to ensure widespread benefits for all farmers.
