The meeting held on November 5, 2024, at Malungon Municipal Hall serves as the first of several steps toward ensuring the successful implementation of sustainable and resilient agri-development projects in the municipality’s Ancestral Domain. LGU-Malungon was introduced to the Planning, Infrastructure, Enterprise, and Social and Environmental components of MIADP, with its LPMIU counterparts having active roles in overseeing projects that align with the needs and aspirations of their Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs).
Representatives from DA-MIADP RPCO XII, NCIP Sarangani Provincial Office, and LGU-Malungon discussed key responsibilities, timelines, and coordination mechanisms that will be crucial for the effective operation of MIADP components in the succeeding months. The orientation meeting also emphasized the importance of community participation in the promotion of balanced gender representation and execution of development initiatives.
As one of the latest additions to DA-MIADP XII’s partner Ancestral Domains, the Municipality of Malungon in the Province of Sarangani is home to Blaan and Tagakaulo ICCs with a population of 48,646 (as of 2017; Source: CBMS) and an Ancestral Domain total area of 74804.6715 Ha., covering 31 barangays.
