DA RFO XII Holds Stakeholders Consultation on Soybean

General Santos City, February 19, 2025 — The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office XII, through its Corn Program, convened a Stakeholders Consultation Meeting for Soybean bringing together key players to discuss and evaluate pressing issues on the soybean production.

“Soybean is an important crop for food and feed production,” emphasized Rodolfo Panganiban, National Focal for Soybean Program, highlighting its significance in the agricultural sector.

Soybeans are critical in addressing the rising demand for sustainable protein sources and it serves as a primary component in animal feed. This makes the crop vital not only to the agricultural sector but also to the food industry.

Throughout the discussions, participants exchanged concerns related to the soybean industry, including pest management, adoption of new technologies, and the opportunities to expand its market.

These deliberations are set to guide future initiatives aimed at boosting soybean production in the region. The consultation meeting marked a significant step toward strengthening the local soybean industry and ensuring its sustainability in the years to come.
