The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) XII, through the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS), successfully launched the second leg of its regionwide Information Caravan in Sitio Kibang, Brgy. Ned, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. The event, held on June 27, 2025, focused on enhancing resilient farming practices and strengthening food security in the region.
The day-long event gathered local farmers, government officials, and key stakeholders to participate in a dynamic and informative program centered around knowledge-sharing, policy updates, and interactive dialogues. Aimed at empowering local agricultural communities, the caravan provided practical insights and strategies designed to improve productivity, bolster resilience, and equip farmers with the tools needed to respond effectively to emerging challenges in the agriculture sector.
Throughout the event, representatives from various DA-RFO XII programs delivered technical presentations on a variety of topics, including the Price Protection Program (PPP), initiatives by the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), rice program allocations, crop variety development, organic agriculture strategies, and crop protection services. In addition to the technical sessions, the caravan also featured a concurrent registration activity for the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA).
Furthermore, a key highlight of the event was the open forum, which allowed participants to engage directly with experts, ask questions, and share their experiences and feedback. This interactive session ensured the caravan was not only informative but also participatory, allowing for meaningful exchanges between the DA-RFO XII and local farming communities.
The event concluded with an engaging trivia session and the distribution of planting materials, fostering a sense of community and reinforcing the importance of hands-on learning in agricultural practices.
The Information Caravan will continue its journey across the remaining provinces in the region, including Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani, with the goal of reaching more farmers and stakeholders and further promoting the principles of resilient and sustainable agriculture.
