In a significant step towards empowering local farmers, DA-SAAD 12 has completed its comprehensive Capability Development (CapDev) and leadership training programs across the SOCCSKSARGEN region, with the final session held in Alamada, Cotabato Province. This last phase of the training brought together the members of Upper Valley Dulao Farmers Association to enhance their skills and knowledge, crucial for advancing agricultural practices and community development.
The training was facilitated by two resource persons from the DA-SAAD 12 regional office, along with the area coordinator assigned to Alamada, in collaboration with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist. Joseph M. Malagante, Associate Project Officer I, led discussions on community development, community organizing, and values formation, emphasizing the importance of building strong, cohesive communities. Jimboy A. Ago, Associate Project Officer I, focused on leadership, outlining the roles and responsibilities of key officials and members, and underscored the significance of teamwork in achieving common goals.
To make the learning experience engaging, Rodel A. Miranda, Community Development Officer II, organized various interactive games, encouraging active participation and fostering a sense of camaraderie among the farmers.
On the final day of the training, Mary Joy G. Antiporda, Agricultural Technician, emphasized the value of such educational programs. She shared, “Napakahalaga ng mga ganitong pagsasanay para sa ating mga magsasaka, dahil ito ang susi sa pag-unlad at pag-abot ng ating mga pangarap sa agrikultura.”
“These kinds of training are crucial for us farmers, as they are the key to progress and achieving our dreams in agriculture.”

As these farmers return to their fields, they carry with them not just the tools of their trade but also a renewed sense of purpose and a shared vision for a prosperous future. The dedication of the DA-SAAD 12 team, along with the local government’s support, underscores a collaborative commitment to uplifting the agricultural sector and improving the livelihoods of farmers across the region.
