#InPhotos | The Department of Agriculture Region 12 held a meeting today, June 19, 2025 in Koronadal City to strengthen collaboration among government agencies on key programs addressing food security, nutrition, and peacebuilding.
Participants from DepEd, NDA, DSWD, DILG, and other partners discussed joint efforts on the GATAS Program, the Milk Feeding Program, and the Peace Farm: Arms to Agriculture Project.
DA XII RTD Zaldy Boloron presented the GATAS framework, emphasizing unity in tackling poverty, malnutrition, and social unrest through agriculture. Agencies shared updates on milk supply, feeding programs, and nutrition trendsโshowing progress in reducing stunting and underweight cases, but also noting rising overweight rates.
The group called for more funding for school feeding, prioritized fresh milk use, and encouraged LGUs to invest in local dairy. The NTF-ELCAC also introduced the Peace Farm project, supporting former rebels and vulnerable groups through agri-livelihoods.
The meeting ended with a shared commitment to continue collaboration and follow through on plans at the next meeting in August.
