#InPhotos | The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 12 (DA-12), through its Corn Program and Research for Development Division, successfully conducted a Farmer’s Field Day in Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat, on March 28, 2025.

The event was part of the Regional Varietal Trial on Corn for the Dry Season and highlighted new corn seed varieties with the potential to improve productivity and income for farmers in the low-elevation areas of Sultan Kudarat Province.

In the Genetically Modified (GM) category, Bayer Crop Science’s DK8131S topped the yield rankings with an average of 10.14 t/ha, followed closely by Corteva Agriscience’s P42645 PW at 8.39 t/ha. Syngenta Philippines Inc.’s NK6505 BGT achieved 8.38 t/ha, while Asian Hybrid’s SUPREME 5150 recorded 8.17 t/ha.

For the Conventional Yellow Hybrid category, Vigour Seeds’ Maize D30 delivered the highest yield at 8.28 t/ha, followed by Southside Agri-Trading’s Filipina 753 at 8.00 t/ha, Evo Gene’s EG501 at 7.80 t/ha, and Promland’s USM Var 35 at 7.61 t/ha.

In the Conventional Hybrid White category, Southside Agri-Trading’s Ghen 802 led with 8.54 t/ha, while RJR’s M8888 secured 6.16 t/ha.

Meanwhile, in the Open-Pollinated Variety (OPV) category, Farco MPC’s Farco 58 produced the highest yield at 5.49 t/ha, followed by DA-RFO XII’s Tupi WHIT at 2.98 t/ha.
