#RCEF-RFFA | In a significant move to bolster the livelihood of smallholder farmers, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 12 (DA-RFO 12) conducted a simultaneous distribution of cash assistance in the City of General Santos today, August 28 and in Sen. Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat on August 28-29, 2024.
A total of Php 750,000 worth of cash assistance to 150 rice farmers in General Santos and PhP 9.1 Million for the 1,835 rice farmer beneficiaries of Sen. Ninoy Aquino were distributed.
Each of the beneficiaries received financial aid designed to support their farming activities, particularly as they face challenges related to rising production costs and climate change. The selected beneficiaries are rice farmers cultivating two hectares or less of land and are registered under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), a basic requirement for availing of the program.
The distribution event was marked by the presence of local government officials who played a pivotal role in the successful execution of the program. Their collaboration with the Department of Agriculture 12 ensured that the assistance reached the intended beneficiaries promptly and efficiently.
