#ASFEmergencyMeeting | The Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office XII, headed by DA-RFO XII Regional Executive Director Roberto T. Perales, called for an emergency meeting on July 3, 2024, focusing on the prevention and control of African Swine Fever (ASF) and other animal diseases.
Attended by Provincial, City, and Municipal Veterinarians from across Region XII through a face-to-face and online setup, the gathering aimed to address pressing issues related to animal health and biosecurity. The primary objective was to assess the current situation and develop strategic interventions to prevent the spread of these diseases, which pose significant threats to the livestock industry and public health.
Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory Chief Dr. Jobienaur S. Moscoso emphasized the importance of this activity. “This activity is intended to have a meeting with key stakeholders para ma-assess ang situation at malaman kung anong interventions and procedures ang need para maprevent yung pagkalat ng disease such as African Swine Fever,” he stated.
The discussions highlighted the necessity of coordinated actions and effective communication among veterinary professionals and local government units to enhance disease surveillance, implement biosecurity measures, and ensure the overall well-being of livestock in the region.
