#CornVarietalTrial | The Farmers’ Field Day for the Regional Varietal Trial for Wet Season in the high elevations of Sultan Kudarat was conducted in Brgy. Kiadsam, Municipality of Senator Ninoy Aquino. This event aimed to evaluate and demonstrate high-yield corn seed varieties that have the potential to enhance agricultural productivity and income for farmers operating at elevations exceeding 600 meters above sea level.

In the GM category, Asian Hybrid Seed Technologies (AH Supreme 5150) demonstrated superior performance with an average yield of 9.57 t/ha. Bayer’s DK8131s followed with an average yield of 8.10 t/ha, while Corteva Agriscience’s P3645YHR yielded an average of 7.63 t/ha.
In the Conventional Yellow Hybrid category, Evo Gene Seeds Corp’s eg 501 achieved the highest yield at 8.28 t/ha, with Southside Agri Trading’s Filipina 753 and RJR Agro-industrial Enterprises’ FE 820 yielding 7.35 t/ha and 7.04 t/ha, respectively.
Within the Conventional White Hybrid category, Southside Agri Trading’s Ghen 802w reported an average yield of 8.72 t/ha, followed by Farco’s 88w at 5.66 t/ha.
In the OPV category, both FARCO MPC (Farco 58) and Tupi 1 WIT recorded yields of 5.75 t/ha.
The event engaged farmers from the priority Clustering and Consolidation of Farmers and Fishers (F2C2) program in Senator Ninoy Aquino, alongside selected farmers and local government units from Palimbang and Bagumbayan. This initiative was spearheaded by the Corn Program and Research and Development Division, in collaboration with the Regional Soils Laboratory and the Local Government Unit of Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat.
