An investment forum happened today, February 04, in Brgy. New Cebu, Makilala North Cotabato between the key industry players, Department of Agriculture (DA), Topfruits Philippines Corporation and Department of Trade and Industry.
Malaysian Topfruits managing director Tan Sue Sian shared to the DA top officials from Regions 8, 10, 11 and 12 their practices, plans and market opportunities for the durian industry in the country.
“Your soil is highly suitable for durian… We want to promote here modern farming to address food security and climate change,” he said.
Tan Sue Sian also urged the farm-owners to boost their durian production.
“We should produce more because the price is increasing,” the managing director disclosed.
From 2014 to 2021, the Philippines constantly ranked in the Top 10 list of exporters of fresh durian.
