Since 2017, the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) has provided a total of 722 high-value crop (HVC) production in the Luzon island group alone. Cordillera Administrative Region shares 326 of the 722 projects, while MIMAROPA shares 80, and Bicol Region with 316.
The HVC production usually includes assorted vegetable seeds, garden tools, plastic mulch, seedling tray, plastic drum, laminated plastic film, wheelbarrow, high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes for water system, organic fertilizers sourced, and other necessary inputs for HVC production.
HVC production projects are often provided in an integrated and complementary approach, usually with either livestock, poultry or other crops to promote diversification of source of food for the beneficiaries’ community, as well as another source of income for the farmers’ associations (FAs) beneficiaries.
