Farmer Groups Benefit from DA-RAED 12, NCP O&M Training for Corn Combine Harvesters
The NOPOL Communal Irrigators Association (CIA) from General Santos City, MAKILALA Libertad Farmers Association (FA) from Makilala, Cotabato Province, and MORO Farmers Association (FA) from Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat participated in the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Training for Corn Combine Harvesters funded under the Corn Program FY 2024, spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) XII through its Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED) and National Corn Program (NCP).
The training which aimed at equipping the beneficiaries with capacity in the proper handling and upkeep of the farm machinery was conducted at the Tupi Research and Experiment Station, with a practical field demonstration and testing sessions held at Brgy. Sulit, Polomolok, South Cotabato on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
Providing the identified machine operators of the beneficiaries with hands-on experience, the said activity was designed to ensure long-term sustainability for the farming operations of the beneficiaries and equip them with essential knowledge on the operation and handling of corn combine harvesters, identification of machine parts and their functions, understanding of warranty schemes, and basic principles of operation and maintenance.
The training and actual testing activities were spearheaded by the staff from the Regional Agricultural Engineering Division, including Engr. Edvin B. Dellomes from the Programs and Projects Management Section, alongside Engr. Rel-Mark Salivio and Engr. Refan Manalo from the Standards Regulation and Enforcement Section. Also, they were joined by Engr. Monawara Guialudin and Engr. Joseph Abellar from the National Corn Program.
