#UPAPmeeting | To increase local food production in localities through innovative agricultural practices, the Department of Agriculture, headed by OIC-Regional Executive Director John Pascual, through the regional Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (UPAP), conducted a consultative meeting with the Local Government Units (LGUs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), and other stakeholders today.
The main objective of the meeting is to plan activities and budget preparation for the year 2025. The meeting also discussed mitigation initiatives to lessen the impact of climate change and food security.
One of the highlights of the activity is the focus group discussion for the Roadmap Development of the program in collaboration with the participants. The activity concluded with agreed-upon commitments as a result of their workshop.
UPAP aims to encourage household production to provide for daily needs amidst rising costs of agricultural products and to encourage entrepreneurship and value-adding for alternative sources of income or livelihood.
