The Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) Midsayap spearheaded the Harvest Festival for PalaySikatan 2.0: Convergence Technology Demonstration of Cluster Inbred Rice Production Site on September 10, 2024 in New Lambunao, Tantangan, South Cotabato.
The festival aimed to demonstrate how collaborative efforts among government agencies, alongside the active participation of private business operators, can significantly enhance the efficiency of rice farming. This event is part of the PalaySikatan 2.0 initiative, which focuses on fostering convergence among partners to improve productivity and create a win-win scenario for all involved parties, including farmers, government agencies, and the private sector.
With the success of the said event demonstration, the convergence model is proving to be an effective strategy in addressing the challenges in rice farming and fostering a more sustainable and efficient rice production system in the Philippines.
Roberto T. Perales, the Regional Executive Director of the Department of Agriculture Region 12, delivered a keynote speech aimed at motivating and inspiring the farmers of the municipality. His speech touched on key agricultural advancements, support programs, and initiatives aimed at improving the livelihood and productivity of local farmers.
