#RiceProgramClustering | Rice Farm Clustering Development program to boost farmer’s production and income in SOCCSKSARGEN
Farmer Cooperatives and Associations from across Region 12 convened for a three-day Rice Program Farm Clustering Development Workshop on August 27 – 29, 2024 in Koronadal City .
The activity aims to enhance rice production through economies of scale, providing better access to markets, financing, and investments, while fostering agricultural development projects in the region.
The workshop, organized by the Department of Agriculture (DA), is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the role of rice farmers in the national economy and accelerate the growth of the rice agriculture sector. The initiative is seen as a critical step in achieving sustainable agricultural development in Region 12, which is a major rice-producing area.
Emerson S. Yago, the DA Director-Designate for Clustering and Consolidation, delivered a keynote address that significantly influenced the participants’ perspectives on the importance of rice clustering. He shared strategies and insights that align with the key initiatives of DA Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr., who has been a strong advocate for clustering as a means to boost productivity and competitiveness in the rice sector.
The Rice Program Farm Clustering Development Workshop is expected to have a lasting impact on the agricultural landscape of Region 12, paving the way for more collaborative and sustainable rice farming practices.
