#PRDPNews | Rice industry stakeholders from across Region 12 gathered for a consultation forum conducted by the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Regional Project Coordination Office XII, together with Project Support Office Mindanao. The activity took place from February 27-28, 2025 in Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

The forum brought together key players in the rice industry, including large- and small-scale producers, Farmers’ Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs), Agriculture Offices, DA-attached Bureaus and Agencies, and Local Government Units (LGUs). The primary objective was to develop a Climate-Resilient, Agro-Industry-Oriented Rice Value Chain Analysis (VCA) to address critical issues in rice production and marketing.

Participants identified challenges within the rice value chain and proposed solutions to emerging industry concerns. Discussions focused on strategies to increase farmers’ income, reduce production costs, and enhance climate-resilient farming practices.

With key inputs gathered from stakeholders, DA-PRDP RPCO XII outlined goals, targets, and strategic actions to improve the region’s rice sufficiency, boost production, and uplift the livelihood of rice farmers in the region.
