In a move aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and providing sustainable livelihood to local farmers, the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝟏𝟐- 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐃𝐀𝟏𝟐-𝐒𝐀𝐀𝐃) program has committed a total of PHP 325,000 to the Idaoman Rural Improvement Club (RIC) for the Mallard Duck Production Project of the program. The initiative was formally announced on September 11, 2024, during the ELCAC Lokal Serbisyo Caravan held in President Roxas, Cotabato Province.

The grant consists of 140 heads of Mallard Ducks valued at PHP 105,000, an incubator worth PHP 70,000, and 70 bags of feeds totaling PHP 140,000. This package will benefit 28 members of the Idaoman RIC, helping them establish and sustain a duck-raising venture aimed at enhancing their livelihoods.

Mary Ann B. Aduana, President of the Idaoman RIC, expressed her gratitude to the DA12-SAAD program for the much-needed support. “Maraming salamat po sa tulong mula sa DA12-SAAD program. Malaking tulong po ito sa amin bilang panimula ng aming asosasyon. Asahan niyo po na pararamihin at palalaguin namin ang proyektong bigay ng DA12-SAAD program. Maraming salamat po!”

This project is seen as part of a larger effort by the government to empower rural communities and enhance agricultural production in the region. The partnership between DA12-SAAD and local farming groups such as the Idaoman RIC not only provides financial support but also ensures that the beneficiaries receive the necessary resources to sustain their ventures long-term.

As the project moves forward, the success of the Idaoman RIC’s Mallard Duck Production will not only contribute to local food security but also serve as a model for other agricultural communities in Cotabato. Through initiatives like these, the DA12-SAAD program continues to drive rural development, fostering resilience and growth among smallholder farmers in Mindanao.
