๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ – ๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ (๐๐๐๐-๐๐๐๐) program recently conducted a monitoring visit to Sitio Sabaan, Tulunan, Cotabato Province, to assess the progress of an integrated corn production project with post-harvest support and livestock assistance granted to the Sitio Sabaan Peace and Development Farmers Association (FA) of the area.
As part of DA12-SAAD’s support to uplift local farming communities, Sitio Sabaan Peace and Development FA received 33 goats in February 2024, followed by the distribution of corn seeds and fertilizers to members on June 19, 2024. Since then, the project has shown promising progress, with 14 members already completing their corn harvest, while others are close to harvesting as well.
During the monitoring activity, representatives from DA12-SAAD and the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAG) observed that around 30% of association members had harvested their crops. This staggered harvest is largely due to variations in planting times affected by local weather conditions, resulting in different harvesting schedules among the members.
In addition to livestock and crop support, DA12-SAAD recently provided the association with a corn sheller, which has significantly benefited the farmers. This equipment not only simplifies the corn processing workflow but also serves as a source of additional income for the association by being accessible to all members, ensuring the continuity and sustainability of the associationโs activities.
The DA12-SAAD program’s continued support to Sitio Sabaan’s Peace and Development FA exemplifies its commitment to promoting resilience and economic self-sufficiency in Cotabato Province. Through consistent assistance and resources, DA12-SAAD empowers local farmers to overcome challenges and build a sustainable livelihood, fueling the growth and prosperity of agricultural communities.
