#SOXCoffeeCongress25 | The SOCCSKSARGEN Coffee Farmers Congress opened in General Santos City on January 22, 2025, bringing together coffee farmers from across Region XII in a vibrant display of unity and commitment to advancing the coffee industry.

Exhibits showcasing locally-produced coffee products from the region highlighted the diversity and quality of SOCCSKSARGEN’s offerings. These displays served as a platform for farmers and exhibitors to engage directly with key figures, including local officials and industry leaders, fostering meaningful exchanges and collaborations.

The event’s opening ceremony was graced by notable leaders who emphasized their support for the coffee industry. General Santos City Mayor Hon. Lorelie G. SOCCSKSARGEN Coffee Council Chairman Ronan Eugene C. Garcia, on the other hand, expressed the council’s commitment to helping coffee farmers improve their income through cost-effective production and collaborative initiatives. โ€œWe are committed to help our coffee farmers boost their coffee production through lesser processing cost and convergence initiatives which will improve their income,โ€ he said. โ€œThis is because we believe that coffee is an effective instrument in poverty alleviation.โ€

Other key figures in attendance included Sarangani Vice Governor Dr. Elmer T. De Peralta, representing Governor Hon. Rogelio “Ruel” D. Pacquiao; F2C2 Program Director Ricardo M. Oรฑate Jr.; DTI XII Regional Director Flora D. Politud-Gabunales; HVCDP Deputy Director Engr. Anne Glyn Frias Lisbo; DA-RFO XII Regional Executive Director Roberto T. Perales and Regional Technical Director Zaldy M. Boloron; and Gensan Coffee Association President Dave Michael Casio Beniga-Ibao.

Their collective presence gave importance to the unified efforts of government agencies and private sector partners to support the region’s coffee farmers. As the three-day activity progresses, it is poised to strengthen partnerships, introduce innovative practices, and pave the way for a prosperous future for the SOCCSKSARGEN coffee industry.
