#SoCotConsolidatedFarming | Surallah’s pilot-area for the Consolidated Rice Production and Mechanization Program of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato produced more than 42 tons of rice in 4 hectares.

This was observed by the attendeesโ€” government officials, farmer groups and associations and rice farmers from neighboring towns and provinces, after the Farmers’ Field Day and Harvest Festival was held today, September 15, in Barangay Dajay.

“Kailangan nating maiangat ang produksyon para madoble ang income ng mga magsasaka,” South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. said during the event.

The province’s chief executive also noted that with the mechanization support and interventions given by the national line agencies such as the Department of Agriculture 12 and Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization, the program will be sustainable and could boost the rice production in their province.

“Kailangan nating pagkaisahin ang mga magsasaka para maproteksyunan natin ang presyo ng kanilang mga produkto,” Gov. Tamayo added.

Under the South Cotabato’s consolidated farming initiative, the total target-rice production area for Surallah is 210 hectares, 180 has. for Tantangan and 111 has. for the City of Koronadal.
