𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: Two municipalities have recently secured approval and funding for critical infrastructure projects during the 5th Regional Project Advisory Board (RPAB) Meeting held in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, on December 17, 2024.

The municipalities of Tampakan, South Cotabato, and President Roxas, Cotabato, have been allocated a total of Php283.9 million for the concreting of Farm-to-Market (FMR) roads. These projects aim to enhance local accessibility, offering farmers and residents more efficient and direct routes to markets, thereby improving the quality of life in both municipalities.

The meeting, conducted by the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Regional Project Coordinating Office XII, was presided over by Deputy Project Director and RPAB Chair Engr. Abraham Onotan. Also in attendance were representatives from various regional agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).

Tampakan proposed the concreting of the 4.4 km San Isidro-Buto FMR, which includes the construction of a 30.3-linear meter bridge. Meanwhile, President Roxas presented a similar project for the concreting of the 7.3 km Greenhill-Camasi FMR. The former secured Php151.1 million for its project, while the latter was awarded Php132.7 million.

Both projects are part of the DA-PRDP’s Scale-Up Initiative, which aims to stimulate socio-economic growth in rural areas. By reducing travel time and improving transportation infrastructure, the projects will not only encourage higher agricultural productivity but also enhance the key commodities of each municipality which are coconut in Tampakan and rubber in President Roxas.
