The Eggplant Fruit and Shoot Borers (FSB) of the Crambidae family are the major pests of eggplant and are said to be difficult to control as the larvae are often hidden in the fruit. Have a closer look at their characteristics and control management with the infographic below.

The FSB is known for its rapid adaptation ability, making the control measures challenging. Given this problem, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is one of the best-fitting courses of action to take. Aside from cultural practices, such as crop rotation, sanitation, use of resistant varieties, and monitoring for early infestations, both mechanical and safe chemical approaches are effective means as counter-measures for the control and management of the FSB.
