๐‰๐”๐’๐“ ๐ˆ๐: The World Bankโ€™s (WB) Board of Executive Directors of the International Bank of Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) has approved the loan for the Department of Agriculture โ€“ Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Scale-Up. The project will further support the Philippine governmentโ€™s goal of transforming the agri-fishery sector to be more competitive, sustainable, and technologically based, contributing to inclusive growth, food security, and poverty reduction.

The DA-PRDP Scale-Up will have a holistic design and strategies by looking at a broader agri-food/commodity system to address the gaps in the commodity value chains, level up approaches and innovations, and contribute to climate resilience and modernizing the agriculture and fisheries sector.
Part of its interventions include the emphasis on rebuilding the whole value chain, improving the food supply chain and logistics, prioritizing farm-to-market roads (FMRs) with value chain infrastructure support, farm, and fisheries clustering and consolidation, the inclusion of rice and corn focusing on value addition, and mainstreaming of institutional reforms in the DA programs and projects. Moreover, the DA-PRDP Scale-up targets to cover 82 provinces in the country. The project will be implemented for six (6) years from 2023 to 2029, with project implementation commencing in September 2023.###
